Phone payments

An article on Mashable reports the recent partnership between Apple, Visa, Mastercard and American Express to formulate a digital mobile platform for all phone users to make purchase through their iPhones while they shop in stores. I guess its about time that this would happen considering there have been numerous digital wallet applications that have hit the market but yet to gain enough traction from their applications. Quite expectedly, the new iPhone come with NFC chips, creating the possibility for digital payments. While a lot have little success in this area, Apple has a considerably high change of gaining success. I do see a lot of innovative opportunities to tap on. Will you be comfortable to try out mobile payment through your phone?

Google Photo Sphere

While I have yet tried Google’s latest app release for iOS, i am pretty sure the Google Photo Sphere app is another thrilling innovation. And im right. It allows us to take really wide panoramic view and three-dimensional views through our phone. Frankly, I love how Google’s UI always have that snazzy minimalistic design packed with truck loads of exciting features. Not only does the camera now comes with the positioning tool, a dot that allows you to target frames, it’s objective is to complete the experience for generating a fantastic image. And of course, it allows you to post your picture onto Google Maps! Check out the Photo Sphere app.

A whole new level of projection

It is unlikely you would walk away unfazed after watching this video. Projection mapping on cars, buildings and surfaces had been widely adopted. However, projection recognition is something rather peculiar. Imagine the computer identifying your facial features, blends it nicely with the light, completely transforming your face into another shell for content projections. A real life CGI projection that traces and follows the movement of the surface it projects. This is absolutely mind-blowing. Check out Prosthetic Knowledge.

Talking to me?

Always a big fan of outdoor activations, I enjoyed seeing how powerful ideas turn to life together with the amount of joy and laughter it elicits from people. What we have here is an interesting mirror that actually talks to people who passes by. Originated from Brazil, bread brand Nutrella created the ‘friendly mirror’ which aims to make your day by singing praises and talking. Creepy, some might say, but the tonality has simply made it a rather amusing experience.

Robots, assemble!

Finally!!! The day where robots would compete like gladiators brawling gallantly within enduring walls of the colosseum. Japan’s Prime minister, Shinzo Abe has decided to take robot battles towards a bigger magnitude! He announced to JiJi Press saying he has plans to hold an Olympics catered for robots by 2020. Despite efforts for Tokyo to hold its Summer Olympics in 2020, this new idea of Shinzo Abe should materialise as a separate event. Robot concepts like Gundam spun off from Japan as manga and animations, and it wont be surprising the nation has plans to drill out something as crazy as that.

Projection onto flesh?

Woah, you must be kidding. A wristband idea that cleverly connect us directly to the Internet by projecting information like time, calls, messages, emails or notifications from social media and other online sites onto our own flesh? Ritot has came out with a concept surrounding the smart-watch technology with projection features. While there haven’t been any physical prototypes yet, the company has amassed almost $375,000 on Indiegogo. This has got to be one of the most interesting tech gadget around. Considering Justin Timberlake’s movie, In Time, where you time literally being projected on human flesh, this is exactly what’s going to happen. The article on Mashable explains that Ritot taps on the pico projector to display content on top of our hands. There seem to be two models available. Interestingly, it is priced at a very affordable price of $120 and is estimated for delivery by early 2015. Definitely a tech piece that is going to rock the world soon.

Wall hugging?

Im sure this isn’t something new to all of us. Especially iPhone users out there, you KNOW it. The fact that we need to constantly plug in for battery power is beyond frustration. Somehow this video seemed to depict Samsung mitigating this issue. The new Samsung S5 with lesser power issues? Really? While I highly doubt so, I do think the commercial resonates with a lot of people out there. Most of us suffering from the mediocre battery performance from smartphones are compelled to make a switch to another brand often promising us longer, more robust battery performance. Well, i do think this is a rather amusing commercial of how Samsung would sell through benefit but at the expense of Apple.
