Beverage leverage

Coffee is almost mandatory in our daily routine. And I think to actually tap on the beverage’s popularity to drive through a meaningful communication message is extremely rewarding. Nescafe’s campaign to create “Instant Connections” through their Nescafe generating machines, helps to convey the importance of sharing joy and making friends. I guess our hectic life creates lesser opportunities for people to actually communicate or know one another. But this approach truly brings people together with just a touch of the button. OgilvyOne Frankfurt gave birth to an idea which targets the busy traffic light junction where hundreds of people would pass by. Their machines piqued the interest of the commuters and had them being curious and slowly finding out the mechanics of this pairing devices. As long as both side of the machines are both pressed together, a cup of Nescafe coffee appears. Everyone likes a warm cup of coffee before heading to work and this is done with the effort from somebody else. Wouldn’t this encounter just make your day better?

Social heat lamp?

What emanates good spirit in the name of the Olympics? A sense of participation and challenge. This is seen in an unique yet engaging social heat lamp. With the help of MOST Creative Club, the Russian Olympic Committee created interesting heat lamps across Russia. People are free to approach the machine and be challenged to participate in several activities. In return, the lamp would generate heat at other lamps. In a way, you actually sweat it out to keep another party warm! Interesting idea that brings about bonding between people and of course, real fun!

Burberry Kisses

What if you can transmit love to anyone in the world. What if you can do it with just a kiss? Burberry’s initiative a while ago managed to captured the essence of love through these simple gestures. ‘Burberry Kisses’, a project that lets anyone out there to send a virtual kiss from their mobile to people around the world. Working together with Google, a very engaging and interactive experience is born.

Coca Cola Wi-Fi

Fancy having a can of Coke while you surf your phone browser or check an email? Coca Cola’s vending machines now equipped with Wi-Fi Internet access is one way to enhance their services.Even if it isnt for the drink, the idea of going there just for the Internet is going to get you to coin a can one way or the other. Together with BT Global Services, the free Wi-Fi helps to enhance experience in impoverished communities. Targeted to launch in Eastern Cape and rural Mpumalanga, the launch locations ensure easy accessibility to the local communities.

A really good idea to provide both win-win situations for both drinking and enjoying Wi-Fi  services. Definitely a good way to enhance the experience and strengthen Coca Cola’s brand equity amongst the less developed areas. In fact, there were plans to actually install “Wi-Fi coolers” over the rest of South Africa. Do you think this is a good initiative by Coca Cola?

Basketball projection

This is quite a spectacular way to introduce a game. Check out this projection through Quince imaging’s 3D technology. It features the pre and post-shows on the Philadelphia 76ers basketball court. Building excitement and hype, this is a good way to showcase more thrilling scenes and pre warm the thrilling crowd. The video includes animations of the players, their awesome shots as well as the team line ups. Very cool stuff.

4D fashion showcase

This has got to be in a class of its own. Check out Ralph Lauren’s Spring 2015 Fashion show where it features breathtaking visuals via 4D Holographic technology. Oops, I actually mean Holographic Water Projections! Light projections once took the stage by storm, is now slowly being replaced by alternative medias. New York City’s Central Park was blazing with fashion goers and celebs as they craze over the 60 foot high water fountain where the projections lit the runway in 4D with captivating background. The entire experience was epic. Really cool showcase of their recent spring 2015 by Ralph Lauren. Brilliant.

While I have yet tried Google’s latest app release for iOS, i am pretty sure the Google Photo Sphere app is another thrilling innovation. And im right. It allows us to take really wide panoramic view and three-dimensional views through our phone. Frankly, I love how Google’s UI always have that snazzy minimalistic design packed with truck loads of exciting features. Not only does the camera now comes with the positioning tool, a dot that allows you to target frames, it’s objective is to complete the experience for generating a fantastic image. And of course, it allows you to post your picture onto Google Maps! Check out the Photo Sphere app.

A whole new level of projection

It is unlikely you would walk away unfazed after watching this video. Projection mapping on cars, buildings and surfaces had been widely adopted. However, projection recognition is something rather peculiar. Imagine the computer identifying your facial features, blends it nicely with the light, completely transforming your face into another shell for content projections. A real life CGI projection that traces and follows the movement of the surface it projects. This is absolutely mind-blowing. Check out Prosthetic Knowledge.

Talking to me?

Always a big fan of outdoor activations, I enjoyed seeing how powerful ideas turn to life together with the amount of joy and laughter it elicits from people. What we have here is an interesting mirror that actually talks to people who passes by. Originated from Brazil, bread brand Nutrella created the ‘friendly mirror’ which aims to make your day by singing praises and talking. Creepy, some might say, but the tonality has simply made it a rather amusing experience.
