Brilliant copy is not easily distinguishable. As creatives, we pare through copious amount of work everyday just to get the best copy. But the average people don’t. And that is exactly the problem: clients sometimes allow themselves to get carried away by injecting so much details and unnecessary information in their marketing, resulting in poor traction. The truth is, nobody actually reads long copy. This video tells it all by showing how much it takes just to make people read, even if it means getting freebies. Arguably, it could be how it is done but i do recognise the fact that people barely give a damn especially when they are commuting. This opera house in Stockholm is showing ‘God Disguised’, a lyrical suite in 1940 from Swedish composer Lars-Erik Larsson and lyrics writer Hialmar Gullberg. Folkopearn does this really well with their message for ‘God Disguised’. Let this be a lesson for us to relook at how we should better portray our communications. Even if fortune is to come, it would still need one to be receptive to it. Whether it is disguised or not.
Parcel right at the door step
You can’t expect anything more crazy than this. A literal yet impactful approach taken by Volkswagen Denmark to introduce the direct sales of cars online. I think the idea of having it so direct creates the powerful message of how easily one can own a Volkswagen. Funny as this stunt might seem to be, it sure delivers a good conversation starter. Das Auto.
The daredevil camera man
NIKE’s 2016 commercial, ‘The Next Wave’ is the epitome of good cameratography combined with a solid storyboard. If you are blown away by this video, then you should know this was made possible through the skills of camera operator “Gimbalninja”. The Austrian is famous for his daredevil attitude when it comes to shooting dangerous stunts and absolutely challenging actions in motion. Akin to a first person shooter game experience, the camera experience for the viewer allows one to see the ninja’s perspective. The clip allows you to see how the story flow in very exciting angles all across Beijing and Hong Kong. It was able to feature a nicely curated film of several different sports overlapping smoothly. In short, getting the right script is important but executing a piece of really good work requires getting the best person for the job. Albeit a niche occupation, it is definitely a highly sought after skill set. Check out the videos below.
Eat Naked.
So they did it. A restaurant that embraces the concept of delivering an exceptional dinning experience based upon the ‘back to nature’ approach of doing things. I can almost imagine myself dinning in the dark. It’s definitely not an extreme idea nor one that seemed over the top. But to dine in the nude is not something anyone can be comfortable with. Bunyadi, a 42-seater restaurant in London is offering its patrons that naked food experience. With such provocative dinning approach, it might seem apparent that only a handful of daring individuals would strip to their birthday suits immediately. Well, what do you know? That is so wrong. At the moment there are actually 46,000 people on its waiting list!! This is definitely an idea that requires some serious nerve and commitment to work. Come to think about it, would you have second thoughts if you are dinning with people who don’t necessarily look good in their birthday suits?
Balls, balls and more balls.
I think humour has got no limits. Not that there is nothing under the roof you can’t joke about, but its more of what did you just joke about that caught my attention. check out this billboard execution. Very simple, very clear and extremely hilarious execution. once again, its a damn funny billboard.
Oreo in a different light
Have you checked out the new flavour from Oreo? Their newly launched ‘Filled Cupcake Oreo’ literally gave their classic cookie a change in their food design. This one has got that awesome chocolate filling together mixed with original creme, right smacked in the centre. A rather enticing blend of flavour. I think what is notable is the launch of this cookie was rather less mainstream than usual. They unveiled on 245 W. 18th St. in New York and expose this delicious cooke to the excited passers-bys. The current launch date is set to 8 February in the US. I wonder when will they come to Asia??
Eating LEGOs?
As much as creativity is concerned, being able to swap a couple of bricks and stacking them up all pretty isn’t going to make much of an impact. What’s really amazing is being able to create and built functionality into LEGO bricks. Especially one that serves to improve your daily routine. AstonishingStudios’s new creation is actually a ‘Cheerios Cereal Maker’. It is powered by the LEGO Mindstorm technology and is able to dispense one bowl of cereal together with milk. Check out the video to see more innovative details about the machine. It can be powered by a two Euro coins. The storage is also highly reloadable with enough space for your spoons and a bottle of milk. Awesome.
Library fashion shop
When it comes right down to retail shopping, the very essence of exceptional marketing depends on remarkable services as well as engaging experiences. Themed shopping experiences is one way to leave a strong impression for your clientele. The fact that a lot of designer and luxury boutiques splurge on creative retail displays and pop-up shop marketing campaigns, is a clear sign that this is an opportunity that should not be missed. Sonia Rykiel’s recent opening of their store in Aoyama, Tokyo, epitomises the significance of such classic retail experiences. Their library-themed store packs a really eye catching interior, splash with red and generous shelves of books from the floor right up to the ceiling. And mind you, these are not just wallpaper printed art executions, but real use of props to simulate the theme desired. It all started from Paris where the retail experience centred around the origins of the Left Bank and the concept was later brought globally across the different Rykiel stores. For the A/W 2015 collection, the stores will now feature works from André Saraïva and Daniela Andrier, whom the latter curated an exclusive fragrance for the brand.
Responsive print ad?
To some people, this might seem a little overrated but I do think it is a rather smart idea from Ogilvy Portugal. Using just basic folding lines, creative work can illustrate the easy peasy way of making websites seemed so fun and responsive. This ad from Correio da Manhã emanates the level of responsiveness of their new website through basic traditional print. How cool is that? I guess it certainly helps to pique some one’s curiosity to actually want to visit the website. Interestingly, this is the sort of work that gets very low recall value but yet triggers high engagement. Nice.
Social heat lamp?
What emanates good spirit in the name of the Olympics? A sense of participation and challenge. This is seen in an unique yet engaging social heat lamp. With the help of MOST Creative Club, the Russian Olympic Committee created interesting heat lamps across Russia. People are free to approach the machine and be challenged to participate in several activities. In return, the lamp would generate heat at other lamps. In a way, you actually sweat it out to keep another party warm! Interesting idea that brings about bonding between people and of course, real fun!
