Working as a digital illustrator and designer during my early days gave me opportunities to work with very talented creatives who were very craft driven, especially in the area of art and digital graphics. It helps especially for someone with the keen eye for details and the everlasting thirst for beautiful things. I had the pleasure to work with cool kids from all over the world and those who gave me the best memories were the few designers from Japan. Their sensitive touch and appreciation in graphic arts is unrivalled. Take a look at Japanese artist, Segawa thirty-seven. With the use of just Photoshop and After Effects, the artist is able to create these really alluring images. We see how sci-fi is infused with modern culture and ancient art. This mix extrudes an altered universe, yet so compelling to look and admire. The animated gifs depict realism and fun in all its entirety. Light the music
I would Iove a bit of this in my house. A solid speaker in the house is almost mandatory these days. Not only does the speaker adds a bit of flavor to the overall house design, it provides entertainment. Have a look at the ‘Yantouch’. A beautifully designed, bluetooth speaker with multiple functions. Apart form its amazing aesthetics, it can act as an alarm clock and a diverse range of colors. With up to 16 million Colors to adjust to, one can easily find the right ambiance to match your mood. What’s more, you can even simulate a sun rise to wake you up early in the morning. Amazing design. Check it out here.
Skateboarding table
Whats unconventional often intrigues me a lot. As much as design is concerned, we want the very best for our clients. Design in itself is a solution that solves a given problem or need. Take this interesting art piece for example. A table skateboard. Pretty neat right? I saw this really interesting table from Yanko Design and thought it was brilliant. Many times we include things in our life that aren’t exactly necessary. But what if we marry two different usage together, forming a harmonious art piece? We get this fantastic design. Lovely.
Eyewear gone funky
There are just tons of stuffs that have yet to be on this blog. One category that I would like to have it here would be fashion. Where fashion is concerned, eyewear plays a significant part in framing our facial appearances. Percy Lau’s current eyewear collection extrudes unique artistic imagery which is less evident amongst mainstream eyewear catalogs. With the help of designer, Sylwana Zybura, a series of really interesting visuals is created. Very unconventional yet inspiring.
Wheeling the future
NASA continues to produce ground breaking technology. Their new MRV (Modular Robotic Vehicle) prototype boosts the efficiency of standard vehicle manoeuvrability through the use of four liquid-cooled wheel motors. At the same time, its remote controlling features makes the entire driving experience extremely dynamic. Taking on dangerous expeditions require extremely versatile hardware like this. One that is not only able to navigate seamlessly but also able to travel smartly. The video showcases the vehicle’s ability to drift effortlessly, a potential feature to help in negotiating dangerous terrains. NASA made the ride extremely agile by having each of the four wheel to functioning at its own course independently. Another awesome function would be the vehicle’s ability to go driverless. Its remote controlled function allows the expedition teams to rove around many unfamiliar terrains.
AirBnb Oslo Holmenkollen Ski design
Building extremely immersive brand experiences is the result of a combination between fusing the right physical and emotional elements. Take a look at Airbnb’s most recent work with interior professionals Melissa Hegge and Nina Holst, as they attempt to transform Oslo’s Holmenkollen Ski Jump to include a snazzy looking penthouse. The design direction takes inspiration from Nordic designs and incorporates a very exclusive rooftop terrace. The facade has a rather organic shape, leaving a very arresting impression under the light blue sky backdrop. With accommodations at a staggering 200 feet off ground, the layers of glass offers breathtaking view of the city. What a fantastic way to live! Check out these images of the beautiful interiors. Truly a work of art.
Beneath my skin
I love what I just saw. A post from DesignTaxi shared some really fascinating pictures from artist Danny Quirk. He has created a series of very realistic yet dimensional visuals on the human body. This seemingly artistic yet erratic paintings is a nice composition of latex, acrylic and markers. The result is real physical demonstration of human anatomy coming to life! The models had these medical illustrations on their body to help bring in a closer realistic view of our body. Extremely mind blowing visuals!
