Love running? I bet you will love having a partner that will not only run with you, but also become a partner to pace you and in this case, out run you! Don’t just beat the clock, beat this robot. The PUMA BeatBot is programmed to run focusing on a lane while it act as a push for all runners aiming to beat their own time. Well, since humans get tired and you don’t always have the luxury to find a sprinting partner, this robot might just be the solution for you! I love this idea simply because it not only taps on technology to better our lives, its actually one step towards health technology. Check out the video as Usain Bolt trains together with it and gives his thoughts on the experience. Nice work by MIT & JWT.
Eat Naked.
So they did it. A restaurant that embraces the concept of delivering an exceptional dinning experience based upon the ‘back to nature’ approach of doing things. I can almost imagine myself dinning in the dark. It’s definitely not an extreme idea nor one that seemed over the top. But to dine in the nude is not something anyone can be comfortable with. Bunyadi, a 42-seater restaurant in London is offering its patrons that naked food experience. With such provocative dinning approach, it might seem apparent that only a handful of daring individuals would strip to their birthday suits immediately. Well, what do you know? That is so wrong. At the moment there are actually 46,000 people on its waiting list!! This is definitely an idea that requires some serious nerve and commitment to work. Come to think about it, would you have second thoughts if you are dinning with people who don’t necessarily look good in their birthday suits?
Give me a FIVE!
Car pooling is no longer a strange concept for many of us. Especially for those of us who wants to commute in the most economical and efficient manner, car pools are kind of the way to go. Now, how do we make it even easier? Here’s the good thing, New Yorkers now enjoy this service through Uber! They are implementing a flat rate of $5 for all car pools within Manhattan below the 110 Street area, but limited to peak hours between 7 to 10AM as well as 5-8PM on weekdays! However, this comes with a small price to pay. That is, you might need to walk a bit to a specific location in order to allow the pick up points to be well aligned for better travel efficiency. So the idea here is to make it more optimal to pick you up as well as drop you such that the travel route is well, ‘strategised’ for timely pick ups and well worth fare charges.
The interesting thing to note is that car pool has been very lucrative for Uber and based on their current fast growing ridership and the staggering amount of New Yorkers who are using UberPool are growing exponentially. Car pool might just be the way to go for Uber albeit their claims for a ‘complimentary public transportation’ provider.
Let’s see what happens next. I am keeping my fingers crossed that this will pick up fast and hopefully be adopted in Asia countries like Singapore! Nonetheless, Im still an avid supporter for Uber and will continue to use their services.
Balls, balls and more balls.
I think humour has got no limits. Not that there is nothing under the roof you can’t joke about, but its more of what did you just joke about that caught my attention. check out this billboard execution. Very simple, very clear and extremely hilarious execution. once again, its a damn funny billboard.
Read for me, please.
Undeniably technology has slowly changed the way we live. Today, it can be said that humans are starting to rely on them to the extent where we are almost living on a lackadaisical routine. As cringing as it might be, technology does have its advantages especially if it could help to benefit physically impaired patients. Amazon’s new update for its Alexa digital gadget now incorporates a new smart speaker technology. The ‘Echo’ now narrates Kindle books and it can be activated simply by instructing the gadget with words like, “Alexa, read ‘book title'”.
This function immediately triggers Alexa to start the reading program. But do not expect real human reading with emotions but rather, a more robotic approach. Atop of the reading functions, it helps to track the books you were reading and also included smart voice commands like pause, go froward or resume. The complexity of the program is still in its infancy, so don’t expect it to be able to perform operations like jumping in between chapters within your Kindle book. Still, this can be a great help for people who wishes to listen rather than read. But truly, are we over relying on technology or are we really leveraging them to our greater convenience?
Wearing art
Well, Im a fan of good design but i am also a huge fan of hilarious design! Personally, i find the works of Melbourne crochet designer Phil Ferguson to be very intriguing. In fact, it is loud, cool and very attention seeking. Also known as Chili Philly, he created large crochet with inspiration from all kinds of food. We see pizzas, tacos and a lot more. What is interesting from his work is the way he envisions his designs – they were very much not meticulously planned but rather a moment of creativity. I really liked how he brought art to life. Speaking of wearable art, i do think the definition of wearability can be defined individually.
Talk the walk
Couldn’t agree anymore that this is one fxxking brilliant execution! Good work here by Graubünden tourism. I mentioned before a number of times the importance of having an engaging platform to communicate your message and this is clearly another example of how unique stunts can be effectively pulled off. Imagine a talking billboard that corresponds with you LIVE and actually invites you on a trip! Through the use of an interactive screen, Graubünden tourism was able to capture the attention of the public. By having a man in the mountains, they load up a real time camera and had him interact with the public. He invites them to a challenge and the person with the best yodel gets a free ticket to the mountains. Truly amazing.
Gourmet burger kiosks
A rather interesting way to sell their burgers. McDonald’s have just came out with a rather innovative way to get their customers to order their signature burgers their own way. McDonald’s new create your own gourmet burger iniative in Australia is pretty interesting. It allows their customers to customise their very own burger. How cool is that? Check this guy’s burger at the end of the video!
A whole new level of projection
It is unlikely you would walk away unfazed after watching this video. Projection mapping on cars, buildings and surfaces had been widely adopted. However, projection recognition is something rather peculiar. Imagine the computer identifying your facial features, blends it nicely with the light, completely transforming your face into another shell for content projections. A real life CGI projection that traces and follows the movement of the surface it projects. This is absolutely mind-blowing. Check out Prosthetic Knowledge.
Adobe Marketing Cloud
I have been wanting to post this ad for a while. Released by Adobe in an attempt to ridicule mindless marketers who simply had no idea what good marketing is all about. The Adobe Marketing Cloud is to enable marketers to effectively managed their online audience by further understanding and monitoring their presence. Interestingly, Adobe is diversifying its services for its Cloud platform. More details for Adobe Marketing can be found here.
