Coca Cola Wi-Fi

Fancy having a can of Coke while you surf your phone browser or check an email? Coca Cola’s vending machines now equipped with Wi-Fi Internet access is one way to enhance their services.Even if it isnt for the drink, the idea of going there just for the Internet is going to get you to coin a can one way or the other. Together with BT Global Services, the free Wi-Fi helps to enhance experience in impoverished communities. Targeted to launch in Eastern Cape and rural Mpumalanga, the launch locations ensure easy accessibility to the local communities.

A really good idea to provide both win-win situations for both drinking and enjoying Wi-Fi  services. Definitely a good way to enhance the experience and strengthen Coca Cola’s brand equity amongst the less developed areas. In fact, there were plans to actually install “Wi-Fi coolers” over the rest of South Africa. Do you think this is a good initiative by Coca Cola?

Scrabble Time!

Everyone that I know of had played Scrabble and would love this game. If it is simply just the usual word puzzle game with friends, I guess that wouldn’t bring much social attention. Scrabble had recently did this very interesting campaign of getting you to literally win Scrabble time. With Scrabble Wi-Fi, you can challenge the game and stand to win free Wi-Fi minutes at locations where there isn’t any Wi-Fi! Interesting enough Scrabble had several well equipped vans with portable Wi-Fi connections and had them dispersed around Paris to places which people had problems with the internet connections. This is definitely one way to get people to start playing your game! A great idea that adds value to people’s lives at the same time allowing the brand’s presence to grow. Wonderful and creative work here.

An innovative tech article on Mashable caught my attention today. We are witnessing the use of mobile phones to yet another level of our daily life routines. Kickstarter never fails to awe me with great innovative start ups all the time. North California startup SONTE has created an innovative way of using our traditional window covers. This time round, with the use of technology, you get a Wi-Fi enabled window film! The entire idea is let you switch between clear and opaque modes via a simple smartphone app. All just in your finger tips. SONTE is raising funds(currently at $200K) to expand their facilities, team as well as productions. SONTE now has films that provides UV protection which also has projector screen capabilities. How sweet a deal is that? These great films will definitely be of great use for interior designs for both residential and commercial housings. Apart from the influence mobile already has on our lives in social and web, I am starting to see that mobile as a fuel to our lives in the near future.
